Launch of the Sheffield Centre for Cancer Research

We invite you to join us at the internal launch of the new 'Sheffield Centre for Cancer Research'.

About the Centre: We aim to boost our global reputation, foster collaboration and provide strategic leadership for this multi-faceted area of research, so that we are more than the sum of our parts. We aim to drive forward our tradition of excellence for the benefit of all our communities and to work with our partners to address the most pressing challenges in cancer research. 

What to expect: At the event, you will hear from the Faculty of Health Director of Research & Innovation, Dan Lambert, the Sheffield Cancer Research Executive led by Jim Catto and Penny Ottewell, and colleagues across the university about our vision for the new Centre, current activity and how you can join as a member.  You will also have the chance to meet others from across the university with an interest in cancer research. 

Who should attend: Staff at all career stages in any school in any faculty, Masters & PhD students, non-clinical or clinical. You might be conducting cancer research directly, carrying out research which has relevance to cancer, or you might have an interest in exploring research and collaboration opportunities in cancer.  We plan to launch the Centre externally at our annual Sheffield Cancer Research Away Day next March where we will also invite our partner organisations.

We will be formally hosted by the University of Sheffield's Faculty of Health. Both Faculty and University leadership have encouraged us to go further to strengthen existing links across schools, faculties and with our external partners and we reiterate that we would like to see staff and students from all our university faculties join us.
