Wed 6 Nov 2024 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM GMT
Online, TEAMS
Description
Are you a small business owner or finance professional interested in learning more about central bank digital currencies and the future of digital finance?
Join researchers from the University of Surrey, Dr Vahid Mirzabeiki and Dr Nikolai Kazantsev, along with blockchain expert Muhammad Tanoli of Portdex, and Jeremy Leake and Ben Hemmingway from the Bank of England - at a workshop to explore the opportunities and challenges CBDC's offer to small and medium-sized businesses and their supply chains.
This interactive online event, will help business owners, finance professionals, researchers and others understand the implications of new blockchain technologies in light of the planned introduction of a government-backed digital pound and other digital assets like invoice tokenisation.
Attendees will hear from a panel of expert researchers who are working on an ESRC funded project to produce business analyses and feasibility studies for CBDC uptake, develop a peer-to-peer digital transaction network, and bring SMEs together to inform and influence policy in this area. Participants will be invited to engage in experimental simulation studies if they are interested.
This event is free to attend, as part of the ESRC Festival of Social Science 2024. We encourage SME owners, business leaders in charge of financial transactions, and any members of the public or academia interested in the future of digital finance.
