The Air We Breathe: Become an Indoor Air Detective This Half-Term!

When we think of air pollution, we often picture traffic fumes and city smog. But did you know that some of the most harmful pollutants are found right inside our homes, in our kitchens and living rooms?

Join Researcher Abidemi Tolulope Kuye and the team from the Global Centre for Clean Air Research (GCARE) at the University of Surrey for a fun, free half-term workshop where kids (and their grown-ups!) can explore the hidden world of indoor air.

This interactive session will help families uncover the complexity of indoor air quality, showing how everyday home activities like cooking, cleaning, and heating can all affect the air we breathe.

What to Expect:

🔬 Hands-on experiments – Become an “air detective” and see real air quality monitors in action as you uncover what’s floating in the air around you.

🏠 Home Activities Zone – Try out fun demonstrations showing how cooking, cleaning, heating, candles, and sprays can all impact indoor air.

👨‍👩‍👧 Learn together – While children explore science through play, parents will pick up useful tips to keep the home warm and healthy without harming the environment.

💬 Open chat – Share your family’s experiences with home heating, fires, and daily routines, and discover small changes that can make a big difference for everyone’s health.
