Join us for this workshop with Dr Kartika Bhatia (ASPIRE)! Learn about how ASPIRE aim to:
Educate, Organize, Empower: Transforming the Lives of Children in Tribal India
Location: Jubilee G31 / Zoom Webinar
“ASPIRE is a non-profit organization committed to providing equitable and quality secondary education to children in India’s tribal regions by revitalizing the government education system. Through a holistic approach, we address issues of school access, learning gaps, and governance across entire administrative regions, currently reaching 1.5 million children in 6,500 schools and 7,000 preschools. Our innovative strategies include universal enrolment, research-based pedagogy, incorporating local knowledge and languages into teaching, community empowerment, strengthening local self-governance, and utilizing digital tools. These efforts have led to significant outcomes, including 100% school attendance and transition rates, improved learning outcomes, and tackling issues such as child labour, early marriage, and gender-based violence.
We seek partnerships with researchers to strengthen our programs and build a robust evidence base for advocacy, aiming to integrate best practices into the national education system. Operating across four Indian states with a dedicated team of 3,500 staff members, ASPIRE is keen to collaborate on action research. Our established partnerships with local administrations and schools position us well for impactful and meaningful research collaborations.”
Dr Kartika Bhatia is an applied economist specializing in evaluating education programs in low- and middle-income countries. Her research focuses on helping practitioners and policymakers translate evidence into actionable policy.
