Black @ Sussex: “Navigating Business – The 'Black' Experience”

Join us on 21 November for a special Black Brilliance in Business event, in collaboration with Black at Sussex!

What you can expect from the evening:

• Find out more about the Black at Sussex project and the work they are doing
• Hear from expert panelists Kelly Smith, Founder of The Black Tri Tribe, and Stephanie Prior, Managing Director at Prior Media and Marketing, who will discuss their experiences in business and how being ‘Black’ has impacted their journey
• Enjoy some delicious West African food from Mama Bubbles Kitchen and network in a safe, welcoming space
  

About Black in Business

The Black in Business project aims to support the success and progression of Black students by providing safe spaces for students to network, hear from inspirational guest speakers, and find out more about the opportunities available to them at Sussex.

• 3:30pm - An Introduction to Black at Sussex from Project Manager Bud Johnston

• 3:45pm - "Navigating Business - The Black Experience" - panel discussion with Kelly Smith and Stephanie Prior, chaired by Bud Johnston

• 4:30pm - Food and networking

Kelly Smith - Founder of The Black Tri Tribe

Kelly Smith is a dynamic leader and advocate with a passion for empowering communities through sports, wellness, and inclusivity. Kelly has successfully managed initiatives that promote physical activity and community cohesion. Her expertise in creating impactful programs has inspired many to embrace healthier lifestyles and foster connections. With a commitment to making a difference, Kelly continues to drive meaningful change in the spaces she serves

Stephanie Prior -  Managing Director at Prior Media and Marketing

Stephanie Prior is the founder of Prior Media and Marketing, a boutique agency known for creating tailored, high-impact strategies in digital marketing, brand development, and media outreach. With over a decade of industry experience, Stephanie brings a unique approach to brand storytelling, combining her expertise in social media management, content strategy, and digital PR. Stephanie is also a presenter for local Television platform, Latest TV Brighton, where she covers local news and community led stories. Stephanie was the first woman of black heritage to win the title of Miss Sussex in 2014, where she went on to compete for Miss England (Miss World). She is also the first woman of African-Caribbean heritage to sit on a committee for Brighton and Hove City Council.
