Title: Rhythm Machines: Embodied Conviviality in South-West England
Please note that this event is in person only.
Abstract:
How do sound and entrained physicality create community? In this seminar Robin will present initial interpretations and findings from a sensory ethnography of ritualised sociality in South West England. Reflecting on a variety of theoretical perspectives and potential directions for write-up, this seminar will address the scholarship of identity, embodiment, and the senses. The seminar may be of particular interest for early and mid-career scholars, as Robin will discuss the sometimes tricky process of refining an obscure ethnographic context into a publishable contribution.
