Title: A Journey to the Centre of the Metaverse: Past, Present and Future of Virtual Products


Abstract:

Join us at the University of Sussex Business School for an exploration of the digital frontiers with Kelly Vero and Maria Restuccia. This knowledge exchange event aims to promote dialogue between industry and academia on cutting-edge topics in the creative industries. 

Open to academics, managers and students and people external to the University of Sussex.

Bio:

Kelly Vero.

With 30 years in game development and tech, Kelly's contributed to renowned franchises like Tomb Raider, Transformers, and Candy Crush. She skillfully applies gamification across diverse verticals, from fashion to entertainment from LVMH to MTV. Passionate about advancing tech, she regularly consults for the WEF on inclusive metaverses, she has pioneered NFT standards for the IEEE, and currently serves as founder and CTO of NAK3D, seamlessly integrating luxury, games, and metaverses. Her book "From Pixels to Portals" was released last year and has been nominated at the 2024 Business Book Awards. She won the 2024 startup innovation award in Davos and continues to explore new ways of applying theories and ideas to enhance productivity in everything.

Kelly Vero


Maria Restuccia is a Lecturer in Marketing at the University of Sussex Business School. She is an educator, researcher and free-lance consultant passionate about innovation and business-to-business marketing, with a focus on the creative industries. With an international background and over 10 years of experience, she investigates the "behind the scenes" of marketing problems faced by companies and organizations. Her latest research project, funded by the British Academy, explores the experience of UK artists with Non-Fungible Tokens.
