Screens and devices are now a huge part of modern family life. While conversations about screen time often focus on limits and restrictions, many parents and carers are also looking for ways to better understand children’s online worlds, build healthy habits as a family, and reduce conflict and upsets around screens and devices.
In this 90 minute session, Screen Time and Family Digital Wellbeing Specialist Katie Bradbury will introduce you to some practical and realistic approaches to family digital wellbeing. Together, we’ll reflect on our own habits as adults, consider the positive role technology can play in children’s lives, and explore ways to open up supportive conversations about online experiences, safety and wellbeing.
The session will include guidance on parental controls, boundaries and building digital resilience, alongside signposting to helpful resources for families.
This session builds on content introduced in Managing Children’s Screen Time (December 2025), but previous attendance is not required.
Session outcomes:
• Reflect on your family’s current screen time habits
• Recognise how to theme conversations with children about their online lives
• Explore approaches that support online safety and digital resilience
• Identify ways to build healthier screen habits
• Recognise where to find further support and resources
This session is suitable for parents and carers of school-aged children. Families will all have slightly different needs in relation to screens and devices. This session will provide you with some ideas and strategies that you can adapt for your family in a way that works for you.
