Zone29 Masterclass: Speaking with Influence - Story with Jenny Garrett

Join us in person at Zone29, our new home of careers and enterprise, for a Zone29 Masterclass on Speaking with Influence with alumna Jenny Garrett OBE.

This two-hour interactive workshop will focus on Story: The Part They Remember Afterwards.

Nobody repeats your third bullet point. They repeat your story.

Story is the most powerful tool you have and the most misused. Too long, too tidy, too obviously deployed to make a point. This session is about earning the right to tell one, choosing which of yours actually belongs in a professional room, and telling it with enough specificity that it lands and enough restraint that it does not overstay.

We will also sit with a harder question. Whose stories get believed, and what do you do when yours is heard as anecdote while someone else's is heard as evidence.

Come with a story in mind that you have never quite known how to tell at work.

You will leave with:

• One of your own stories shaped into a two-minute version you can use in an interview, a pitch or a meeting
• A method for choosing which story fits which room, and which details to keep when you have to cut it to thirty seconds
• A clearer sense of how to tell a personal story at work without oversharing or losing authority

*Please arrive from 5:30pm for a 6pm start.

**This event is exclusively open to University of Westminster alumni who graduated 5+ years ago.

***This Zone29 Masterclass on Speaking with Influence session is the third of a three-part series. Attend one, two or all three. Each session stands on its own.

About the Speaker

Jenny Garrett OBE (BA Business Administration, 2000)

Jenny Garrett OBE began life in social housing in North West London, with an early conviction that where you start should never limit where you arrive. Two decades on, she is the founder and CEO of Jenny Garrett Global, the award-winning leadership consultancy she started in 2006 and still leads. Her belief is simple: potential is everywhere, but opportunity is not, and the work of leadership is to close that gap. It is a promise borne out by results, with 35%+ of participants promoted during her programmes and 98% recommending them.

Jenny’s work spans three connected pillars: Inclusive, Entrepreneurial and AI-Ready Leadership. She is the author of the bestselling Rocking Your Role and Equality vs Equity, and, with her daughter Leah-Sunshine Garrett, co-author of AI for Equity (Emerald Publishing) and co-host of the podcast of the same name. She holds an OBE for services to entrepreneurship and women in business, and is a Companion of the Institute of Leadership and Management, its highest honour.
