How to Build Networks
The idea of building business networks might quicken your pulse with anxiety or excitement. But whether you find it easy or onerous, this fast-moving, practical and engaging event (November 27th, The Barn @ Pengelly, 10-2) will help you with the theory and practice of making new connections.
While some people seem like natural networkers, others find working the room as plausible as plaiting fog. But as start-up businesses, there is real value in forming effective support systems.
Host Trevor Lee is well versed in confident conversations, reaching out and keeping it simple (all while still being yourself). He’ll be warming us up, helping you connect with each other and setting the scene for three speakers, each of whom is exceptionally well qualified to talk about how we communicate and build relationships.
- Allyson Glover, co-founder and MD of Happy Business, is an experienced strategic leader with more than three decades’ experience supporting businesses and building teams. She’ll help you work out your communication superpowers, their impact on others, and getting you to the next level.
- Sara Pugh is the co-founder and managing director of Eight Wire, one of Cornwall’s most successful marketing and design agencies. A seasoned speaker as well as coach, Sara will get you thinking strategically about where to go and who to speak to, making sure your new network works for you for the long-term.
- Stafford Sumner founded Jarrang (a London-and-Cornwall-based email marketing agency) in 2003. Effective communications form the cornerstone of his work and his business journey features many examples of learning through connection and collaboration. Hear his story and learn the significance of creating the ‘bank of goodwill’.
There’ll be plenty of opportunities for delegates to exchange details, swap advice, make themselves known and generally start practising all those skills our speakers will be talking about.
Plus, of course, the event (just!) falls within a month of Christmas, so expect an extra, festive dimension to the day’s networking!
