Excepts from two operas-in-progress:
Exagoge, composed by Avner Finberg. An adaptation of Ezekiel the Tragedien's 2nd Century CE text, the earliest known Jewish play. A Greek drama based on the Exodus, with a little paganism thrown in. Eventually to be presented inside a contemporary play, set at a Passover seder. The play will occur around a giant table. The opera will be on top of the table. Libretto/play by Edward Einhorn.
The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus, composed by Nell Shaw Cohen. A family holiday opera with a libretto by Edward Einhorn adapted from the book by L. Frank Baum: a nontraditional Christmas fairy tale about young Claus set in the magical world of The Wizard of Oz.
