2nd Annual Young Authors Storytelling Workshop for youth in grades 6-12.

Last year, four award-winning authors taught the basics of storytelling, but this year, participants will have more to choose from with breakout sessions in the afternoon. Like the UPPAA spring conference, participants in the Young Writers Storytelling Workshop will sign up for the tracks they wish to participate in, have additional writing time in each breakout, and a Q&A session with a panel of authors during the lunch break. Although we ask that students choose a session at registration they are not locked into that session and may change which breakout they are going to the day of the writing workshop.

The additional sessions are designed especially for returning participants to help them further develop their writing skills. These sessions, led by published authors and industry professionals, will cover topics such as creating vivid characters, dynamic plots and engaging settings, as well as writing for journalism and editing to achieve a polished manuscript.

Lunch is included with registration and this year will be a selection of pizza from Vango's, plus salad and other assorted snacks. If you have allergy or dietary restrictions please reach out and we can answer any questions you may have.
