Upton House Heritage Open Days, Below-stairs Tours

As part of Upton House's Heritage Open Days weekend, join us for a free, below-stairs guided tour of Upton House’s basement level to find out more about the people that kept the place running, including stories uncovered by our research volunteers as part of our Discovery Project. Spaces are limited to 10 people per tour so book your slot now!  

Four tours will run each day and will last between 40-45mins. Unfortunately this tour does not have step free access. 

Admission to the ground floor of Upton House is free throughout the weekend with no need to book. The ground floor does have step free access.

Due to our number restrictions for the basement level, children will require a ticket. Babes in arms do not require a ticket. All children must be accompanied by an adult and are the responsibility of that adult.  

Terms and conditions:

Upton House will be open to the public with additional access to the usual openings. Staff and volunteers will be leading FREE House tours, giving a rare opportunity to explore the basement and the former servants’ quarters.

This tour involves steep steps and uneven surfaces and is not wheelchair accessible. If you have any mobility concerns please contact uptoncountrypark@bcpcouncil.gov.uk for more information.

All children must be accompanied by an adult and are the responsibility of that adult.

Tour participants are asked and expected to stay with the tour group at all times, and to follow instructions given by staff in case of an emergency.

Upton Country Park staff reserve the right to refuse entry to Upton House and the guided tour, even if you are a ticket holder. Upton Country Park staff reserve the right to cancel the event or the tours or to adjust their timings. Should this occur Upton Country Park staff will try to the best of their ability to inform ticket holders of any changes as far in advance of the tours as possible.
