FAQ
• What is Voice DNA?
Do we all have an essentially unique voice? How is it different from other voices and when do we feel that we are sounding our unique voice? When does our voice feel good and right in our bodies? Do we only have one voice or multiple voices that express different parts of ourselves and our imagination? Voice DNA is a playful and experiential space for you to go on a journey with your voice following this enquiry.
• Who is it for?
The sessions involve the practice of collaborative vocal improvisation which may seem scary at first but in fact a very intuitive, joyful and nurturing process once the inhibitions of the mind are lifted.
Collaborative vocal improvisation is a creative process where two or more singers play together in real-time to create music spontaneously. It often involves exploring melodies, harmonies, rhythms, and vocal textures without a predetermined structure or written score. The focus is on interaction, listening, and responding to each other’s musical ideas in the moment.
To access this practice you need to be able to sing (mostly) in tune and keep a beat. If you don’t know what this means please get in touch at voicednauk@gmail.com to discuss or book 1-2-1 sessions with Uran who can help you develop these basic skills through gentle vocal coaching.
• I want to join but I’m scared!?
Sharing your voice, especially in different ways than your speaking voice is a vulnerable process. It is completely normal to feel scared but with a little bit of courage to experiment and make mistakes it will be a highly rewarding experience in terms of boosting your confidence, serotonin levels and playful spontaneity. Rest assured that this will be a safe and non-judgmental space with gentle and step by step instruction and option to skip exercises at any time.

TESTIMONIALS
"Uran is a great and gifted voice teacher with a wonderful way of working with people that opens up their confidence."
Lilli
“So wonderfully, delightfully brilliant. Recently at a jam session I found myself on the mic and not giving a f**k what anyone thought, all thanks to Uran's workshops.”
Louise
“A totally beautiful, heart-opening, playful and joyful journey into the world of voice improvisation, led by the exquisitely creative Uran Apak. Uran’s workshop definitely supported and encouraged me to let go and really opened me up. I think that was in large part due to how Uran approaches this work and also who he is as a person; he not only creates supportive conditions through instruction but also embodies the very thing he is trying to evoke: a deep ease and openness. This really created the conditions for people to drop deeply into themselves and find their authentic voice.”
Jody

"I always loved singing but I never thought I could sing properly. I've been going to weekly sessions held by Uran Apak to explore my singing potential and I feel I've made quite a progress, woohoo! It feels a lot better than before, I can hit and maintain some notes like I never thought I could, but I equally feel how much more I can improve.
Lovely space, lovely vibes, my voice is growing, my confidence is soaring <3 "
Bristena

"I felt quite comfortable to come as a beginner. I caught myself humming and singing many times this week. A new experience ! The session has set my voice free! : ) Thank you again and keep me posted please, I'm up for more!"
Jasminka
"It was a fun, interesting and relaxing evening with a good mix of different activities. I would recommend it."
Kathy
"I have learned to appreciate the variety of sounds coming from the other people and how intimate, fragile and beautiful they are. Also I've learned that by listening and repeating the sounds a person makes, you can feel a very deep connection, quite difficult to express with other means of communication as it's immediate, intimate and unique to the person. In a few words, the human voice is one of the most powerful tools !"
