Description
PING # 11 - Future Directions for Urban Agroecology. Join us for our 11th Policy Influencers Network Group to hear about some of the most exciting initiatives across the wider consortium that are creating the conditions for urban and peri-urban agroecology to thrive in the UK. Hear reflections on UACs four years of work and help shape where we go next.
This is a session for anyone interested in or involved in influencing the policies and practices that shape our food system. It is a safe place to explore, connect, learn and progress.
We will be hearing about (speakers tbc):
The role of community ownership of land in creating long-term resilience in our food supply (UK. Tom Chance - CEO Community Land Trust Network)
The Right to Grow (UK. Pru Elliott - Incredible Edible)
The Market Garden Renaissance (UK. Rebecca Laughton - Landworkers Alliance)
Landed Community Kitchens as part of a newly imagined Agroecological Urbanism (North of England. Chiara Tornaghi - CAWR)
Reimagining the Greenbelt (Avon. Maddy Longhurst - UAC & Hamish Evans - We Are Avon)
Collaborating at a regional scale on the setting up of Farmstarts (East Midlands. Lauren Kendrick - Flourish Peterborough)
A Bristol Conversation - what emerges when a food city faces its challenges.
The role of UAC in supporting the relationships, the initiatives and the challenges in taking with work to the next level.
Presentations will be followed by small group discussion, exploration and sharing.
