🌿 Tree Free Tarpology Forest School / Bushcraft CPD session

We’re really excited to welcome Peter from Red Oak Bushcrafts to our site in Bounds Green for these half-day CPD sessions. We’ve known Peter for some time, taken part in his courses, and he also led a brilliant Urban Forest Tribe CIC team CPD for us last year, so we’re delighted he said yes to coming down to run these sessions.

Come and join Peter for a half day CPD session and pick up some great ideas for tarp sessions that don’t rely on trees.

Date: Wednesday 19th August

Session times:

• Morning: 9:30 am – 12:30 pm
• Afternoon: 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm

Skills covered:

• A simple knot that children can easily learn (or may already know), which can be used to create basic tarp shelters or dens
• How to adapt this knot in different ways so, once the basics are understood, it can be replicated and built upon
• Ways to support your tarp without the use of trees
• Simple, fun teaching approaches 

The first part of each session will be looking at the knot and ways to apply it to create two or three simple shelters. In the second part of each session we will build on the skills to make more elaborate shelters using different styles of tarps and some different knots.

Handouts will be provided, along with examples of different teaching approaches. You’ll also receive access to videos demonstrating how to tie the knots and set up the different tarp configurations.

• 3 hours of guided Tree-Free Tarpology skills led by Peter from Red Oak Bushcrafts
• Shared tools and equipment
• Support and guidance from an experienced instructor
• CPD attendance certificate (non-accredited)
• Hot drinks and light snacks

What to Bring:

• A notebook (if you’d like to take notes)
• A water bottle
• Comfortable shoes and clothing suitable for outdoor activities
• If you’d like to bring your own tarp, you’re very welcome to. Peter will have plenty available, although you may prefer to work with your own.
