Urban Illusions is a close-up magic show that takes place in a basement with 20 strangers in the East Village, New York City.

Sleight of hand, mentalism, analog objects, and original composed music. No stage. No distance. Three feet away the entire time.

And if that all sounds too art school pretentious for your taste – he's a damn good close up magician!

The Magician

Hayden Childress grew up in North Carolina doing magic at a fish camp restaurant at 13. His teenage years were split between mastering sleight of hand and watching VHS tapes of outsider artists.

He's appeared on Penn & Teller: Fool Us, performed privately for Google, and done close-up magic at the Super Bowl. He also composes all the original music, paints the artwork on the walls, and built the shelves himself.

The Space
