Green Link Walk (Hackney Central to Angel)

Join David Harrison Co-founder of Footways London and Phil Paulo Director of the London Tree Ring at CPRE London for an early evening gander along the Green Link Walk. The walk will include a litter pick and an opportunity to identify potential locations for new urban tree planting and discussions on suitable tree species selection for urban environments.

Walk commences at 6pm outside St John's church, Hackney - Intermission at 7pm De Beauvoir Arms (junction of St Northchurch and Southgate roads) - 7.30pm walk proceeds along the Green Link Walk towards Angel tube, concluding at Duke Organic (formerly the Duke of Cambridge) at junction of St Peters and Danbury streets.

David Harrison

David has had a long interest in travel and transport. His PhD and then book was on roads and bridges: The Bridges of Medieval England. For many years he worked as a House of Commons Clerk, including on the Health and on the Environment and Transport Committee. He manged an inquiry into 'Walking in Towns and Cities', the first every selection committee report on everyday walking: Report

In retirement, he became Chair of Islington Living Street, and part of the newly formed London Living Streets. He continues to give talks and write about walking, the public realm, and roads and bridges.

Phil Paulo

Phil is the newly appointed Director of the London Tree Ring Initiative at CPRE London and comes with a wealth of experience gained over a 30-year career in urban nature conservation. Having worked for some of the UKs best known conservation organisations, including London Wildlife Trust, TCV, Groundwork, The Tree Council and the National Parks movement Phil brings a passion for mobilising local communities to take positive action to address the impacts of climate change and the threat of UK habitats and biodiversity decline.
