The Wonder of Ancient Trees
The Wonder of Ancient Trees
The United Kingdom has amongst the largest population of ancient trees in Europe, with locations such as Windsor Great Park or Richmond Park having more ancient trees than entire countries combined! Ancient trees are living monuments; part of our culture, heritage and living history. Most importantly they are home to thousands of living species; ranging from birds to bats, fungi to mosses and countless invertebrate species, many of which are entirely dependent upon ancient trees.
We are joined by two ancient tree expert speakers: Jill Butler and Lynne Boddy, who will be discussing the reasons why the UK, especially London has such a large and internationally significant population of ancient trees as well as the importance of fungal ecology for ancient trees.
