A Winter Odyssey Teen Squad

Join the Teen Squad for 'A Winter Odyssey', and help create an epic event this winter in Longton Park. Get involved with making costumes, lanterns, and props for a parade, creating characters for performance, and learning to make light installations to be enjoyed by local families in Longton Park on Saturday 12th December. A Winter Odyssey takes inspiration from classical Greek mythology, transforming Longton Park into an adventure wonderland. Expect giant light-up puppet Cyclops, Helios and his chariot, the Underworld, a fire labyrinth, the Sirens and Calypso's Island and a bonus Minotaur.

You can:

• Join the Making Team to create lanterns, costumes, site dressing and props for the event
• Join the Performer Team to create characters, perform in a parade group or animate an installation
• Join the Event Support Team to help with event management, documentation, lighting or sound tech

This is an exciting, fun opportunity to be involved in a community arts festival, make new friends, learn skills that are great for CV building, and create networks with artists and creatives. There will be opportunities to learn in masterclasses on lighting and lantern building.

Come along to a first meeting on Wednesday 9th September, 5pm - 7pm to sign up and get involved. All teenagers welcome. Please sign up for free so we know you're coming.

ACCESS INFORMATION

We meet at The Moony Club, 15 Bennett Precinct, Longton Exchange, ST3 2HT, next door to Iceland in the shopping precinct. The closest parking is at Longton Exchange car park. Tesco car park is around 5 minutes walk away. You can also travel to Longton by bus or train and we are a few minutes walk away from the stations.

Our building is an old shop unit and is accessible up a small, short ramp to the front door. Our only toilets are up 2 flights of stairs and the closest accessible toilet is at The Coffee House until 6pm (around 150metres away) or at Tesco (around 5 minutes walk away).
