Description

Embark on an enriching 5-day theatre journey led by ImaginAction facilitator Uri Noy Meir. Together, we'll delve into practicing Theatre That Reconnects, Newspaper Theatre, and Social Presencing Theatre. Practices that can serve as bridges to address the escalating challenges of social polarization and climate anxiety, guided by the wisdom of nature.

In the Residency, we will explore:

  1. Theatre That Reconnects:  participants will engage in transformative practices to reconnect individuals with themselves, each other, and the natural world. Drawing inspiration from the principles of Joanna Macy, this module explores rituals and exercises to deepen our exprienecing of the interconnectedness and the wisdom of nature.
  2. Newspaper Theatre:  participants will use theatre to analyze current social polarization and climate change events. This interactive approach allows for collective exploration of societal issues, offering a unique perspective on the narratives shaping our understanding, leveraging theatre to dynamically portray the changing social narratives.
  3. Social Presencing Theatre:  the residency is building on the work of Arawana Hayashi and Otto Scharmer, exploring Social Presencing Theatre as a way to cultivate eco-awareness, explore the social field, and embody systemic solutions for social issues such as Social Polarization, and Climate Anxiety.

We will inquire together into these primary questions:

- How can we better address social polarization and climate anxiety by infusing Work that Reconnects rituals (J. Macy) with theatre-based practices (Theatre that Reconnectes) to facilitate and amplify our connection to nature as a source of wisdom?

- How can readapted Newspaper Theatre techniques contribute to further decolonization and eco-transformation of the Forum Theatre and Legislative Theatre, action methods developed by Augusto Boal in the 20th century, in the 21st century?

- How can we co-design effective systemic interventions addressing social polarization and climate anxiety using Social Presencing Theatre practices using the Theory U inspired framework of the Theatre that Reconnects?
