  • Q: How do I sign up?

A: This event is open to all students, however there is a limited number of player spots. If you are interested in participating please fill out the waitlist survey to be notified when team sign ups open up. When signups go live, individuals can register as one person or up to a whole team The registration process requires your @uwlax.edu email, and snapchat username. This information is collected to be shared with members so that you can get ahold of each other both in and before the game.

  • Q: What are Megagames?

A: Megagames are like very large board-games, with elements of role-playing games and wargames rolled in. Megagames involve anything from 30 players to three or four hundred players. The original Watch the Skies game has been played by groups, universities, and schools all over world.

A: Participants are encouraged to wear dress up for the the game (like business casual). Some people find it more fun to have science conferences in a lab coat, or go to the UN in a tie. However, we ask that you be culturally conscious when dressing from a different nation; we're playing characters, not caricatures.

  • Q: What should I bring?

A: Bring your phone, a note book and a pen. Please also consider bringing water and snacks it will be a long day and it is important to stay hydrated at the minimum. As we stated above, costumes are welcomed but not required.

DISCLAMIERS

1. Watch the Skies: 1970 is an adaptation of Jim Wallman’s original game Watch The Skies

2. There are only 50 player slots and will filled on a first come first serve basis. In the event that we do not hit the 50 person target some teams/players may be redistributed to fill other teams. In the event that all spots are filled and you still are interested in playing contact the organizer, there is some wiggle room for additional players.

3. We reserve the right to revoke issued tickets to non-UW La Crosse students. Due to venue and funding requirements our target to stay in compliance is 70%-80% UWL Student attendance. Your @uwlax.edu email will be used to verify that you are indeed a UWL student.
