Yom//Kippur 5786
Welcome to Yom Kippur 5786/2025 with uws//jews!
Yom Kippur with uws//jews is geared towards young professional UWS residents (post college - age 35 & uws//jews alumni) seeking a meaningful and spiritually engaging Yom Kippur experience. We seek to create a space to reflect on ourselves and our community, and we’ve gathered some great local talent to lead us with that goal in mind. Our minyan will take place this year in our rented larger space in the west 90s and will be an Orthodox service (with divrei torah given by both men and women), slow shira following Kol Nidrei, and a light break-fast afterwards!
We're excited for you to join us!

We're excited for you to join us!
Open to all / Affordable
We recognize that people have a variety of financial situations. We don't want the cost of a ticket to be a barrier for anyone, so if the cost concerns you in any way, please email us at yk@uwsjews.org and we'll be happy to work something out with you. (There are many ways to contribute to making this a meaningful Yom Kippur experience, and payment is only one of them!) We have a very limited number of subsidized tickets at a lower rate with no questions asked for those who need. We ask that you please use the honor system in purchasing these subsidized tickets.
Break fast
Each ticket gets you a grab-and-go break fast to enjoy on your way out of our Yom Kippur programming. We also have sit down break fast for an additional fee or anyone who wishes to sign up and commits to helping out with set up and clean up.
Help support uws//jews
Additionally, we are offering an opportunity for those who can to make an additional contribution to support uws//jews programming throughout the year. When you purchase tickets, you will be promoted to contribute an additional amount towards your reservation.
uws//jews is funded by ticket sales, grants, and donations from people like you. We're volunteer led and funded by you. Please consider an additional donation to uws//jews during checkout.
Supporting others
Every year, we encourage donations to another organization as part of our ticket sales. Last year we supported JLIC TLV's post October 7th initiatives and the year prior, we contributed to Dorot. $1.80 from every ticket purchased will be donated to one or several impactful organizations. If you have any ideas, please reach out to yk@uwsjews.org
We'll be splitting the $1.80 to two different needs.
1) Hostage Famil(ies) in conjunction with JLIC TLV - while we all know many of the hostage families, some are struggling financially.
2) Tomchei Shabbos Manhattan - supporting local families in need
Other Ways You Can Get Involved:
A core value of uws//jews is working together to build the community we want to see! Because this minyan (and all of our programming) is entirely volunteer-led, we invite you to share whatever ways you can contribute to making this year's Yom Kippur experience special! If you have any questions or thoughts about uws//jews more broadly, or would like to get involved with - or start - a new community initiative, please email yk@uwsjews.org. We're excited to hear from you!
We encourage those who select a subsidized ticket option to volunteer to support the community in other ways.
During checkout, there's a question about ways to get involved in uws//jews throughout the year. If you have other ideas, feel free to share via email to ideas@uwsjews.org
