Special Event | Guided Tour of the Wing Sang Building

Sat 14 Oct 2023 1:00 PM - Sat 11 Nov 2023 2:30 PM PDT Chinese Canadian Museum

Spend the afternoon in Chinatown with an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour at the newly opened Chinese Canadian Museum!

What stories do the oldest brick building in Vancouver Chinatown hold? The historic Wing Sang Building was built by the merchant Yip Sang to house his businesses. Over time, it expanded into a 6-storey home for him and his extensive family to live in for nearly 100 years, along with a large commercial space.

Learn about the rich history of the home of the Chinese Canadian Museum and the building's transformation from 1889 to the present. Join us on a special 90-minute Wing Sang Building Guided Tour, where you will be given exclusive access to additional spaces both inside and outside the building.

These unique building tours will be led by Larry Chin and Sarah Ling, directors of Everlasting, a film on the museum's third floor that traces the journey and evolution of the Wing Sang Building and its inhabitants.

Please note: The November 11 tour will highlight stories of Chinese Canadian veterans featured in the exhibitions in honour of Remembrance Day. It is currently sold out. Please sign up for the waitlist to be notified if any spots come available and/or any additional tour dates are added.

This tour is proudly offered in partnership with the Chinese Canadian Museum.
