Join us at Heritage Hall this July for our our first Summer Storytelling event - all are welcome!
Enjoy an informative evening with local community organizations, a heritage storytelling presentation, free food and non-alcoholic beverages, and live music.
The heritage presentation will feature the story of how the Henry Hudson Elementary school house was saved from demolition, relocated to the North Shore and donated to the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nation for their Language Nest, an early years education center for Squamish language.
The presenters include the heritage construction groups that managed the logistics of moving the schoolhouse, and the keynote speaker is the Squamish Nest, which is now in operation.
All are welcome to attend. By donation - all proceeds support the Places that Matter program.

About Places that Matter
Places that Matter launched with a plaque project in 2011 to recognize community-nominated sites that highlight some of the lesser-known people, places and events that have shaped Vancouver. A decade later, with 93 plaques installed, the online Community History Resource continues to grow with community contributions of personal stories and photographs for 125 sites.
All donations are tax deductible. An official tax receipt is issued for donations of $20 or more. Our Registered Charity number is 891765968.
