Heritage Week | Neighborhoods and Nourishment: An Exploration of Food and Community in Vancouver’s East End

Sat 21 Feb 2026 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM PST

Join us for two different walking tours with John Atkin to celebrate Heritage Week 2026. Each tour will dig deeper into how heritage endures through the food and reflects who we are and where we come from.

SOLD OUT! The 10 am tour will explore Strathcona, spending time exploring the legacies of the food producers and suppliers that were once found in the neighbourhood. From bakeries and butchers to ice cream and importers such as Tosi, Bosa and Benny’s, Strathcona’s legacy food stores endures.

SOLD OUT!
The 1 pm tour will be spent exploring from Prior to Powell Street, learning about the how chicken joints and cafes contributed to Vancouver’s larger community and heritage. These places were largely owned and operated by Black women, and their restaurants were an important part of the local and city-wide social scene.

Please note that tickets will go on sale on January 12th at 10 am.
