Heritage Discovery Day returns on Saturday, June 6th! Join us to explore the neighbourhoods of Mount Pleasant and Riley Park and discover something new about the history of your community.
From a 1910 Craftsman home in Mount Pleasant with original floors, stained glass, and a clawfoot tub, to a distinctive Riley Park residence that blends Mid-Century Modernist roots with the layout and design that later defined the Vancouver Special, this year's tour features a selection of nine unique heritage properties. Each site will highlight aspects of the diverse history, architecture and culture that has shaped Mount Pleasant and Riley Park over the years.
Participants will also have the opportunity to explore other lesser-known places and spaces that have shaped each neighbourhood, as well as connect with local businesses and community organizations.
The tour is self-guided and ticket holders can choose which sites to visit and in which order. Volunteers and your guidebook will offer historical information about each site, as well as additional neighbourhood insights. The tour will be well enjoyed by bike or by transit, although some sites are walkable and parking information will be provided. Please be aware that ticket holders are responsible for finding and covering costs associated with vehicle parking. We will also provide information on local transit routes with your ticket.
Please read the following information before purchasing your ticket:
- Please note that the ticket is a detailed guidebook, therefore they cannot be sent via email. You will need your ticket guidebook to access the tour stops.
- All attendees (ages 6 and up) require a ticket. No children under 6 are permitted (infants in front carriers are allowed).
- All attendees are required to take their shoes off before entering a house and must bring socks/slippers/indoor shoes (no bare feet) and a bag for your shoes. Sites that are public buildings are exceptions.
