'I Made You a Mixtape' is a 90s-inspired movement theatre experience created by Response Theatre Company, the UK’s first Meisner-based movement company. Set in a chaotic college dorm party, the work follows nine girls navigating friendship, identity, heartbreak, nostalgia, and the music that shapes who we become.
Using the company’s original Response Movement Method, a hybrid of Meisner acting technique and movement theatre, performers treat the music as their scene partner and choreography as their dialogue. With no fixed script, each performance unfolds differently in real time, creating an experience that feels raw, immediate, and deeply human.
What begins as a carefree night of dancing and games slowly unravels into a collage of improvised music videos, confessions, laughter, tension, and connection. Filled with 90s hits, dorm room chaos, and emotional honesty, 'I Made You a Mixtape' places dance at the centre of storytelling, offering a bold alternative to traditional theatre.
Warm, playful, messy, and alive, the work is a love letter to growing up, growing apart, and the people who shape us along the way.
