Eight Hours

Following a chance meeting outside a bar, two young women - Isabella and Jamie - spend the only eight hours they will ever spend together. It might mean everything - or nothing at all. As the night unfolds, they navigate tension, vulnerability, desire, and the intimacy of being seen. What begins as flirtation slowly becomes something far more exposing.

Through late-night conversations, shared secrets, awkward silences and moments of tenderness, the pair begin to reveal parts of themselves once hidden. As the night unfolds, the line between strangers and something more begins to blur.

Is eight hours long enough to fall in love?

Centering two queer women, the play captures a kind of intimacy rarely shown on stage. Rather than presenting queerness as spectacle or tragedy, Eight Hours focuses on the quiet, recognisable moments between two people revealing more than they intended to. The play explores the people we meet too late, the parts of ourselves that only surface past midnight, and the fragile space between wanting someone and allowing yourself to keep them.

Written and directed by multidisciplinary artist Lily Stuart - who has recently completed her BA in Drama at Queen Mary University of London, including a year abroad at Columbia University in New York City - Eight Hours is a tender and emotionally charged new play exploring queer intimacy and the immediacy of connection between strangers.
