Mirror Man — Benjamin Yeoh
Do we have a true face?
Mirror Man is a new solo performance by Benjamin Yeoh. It began with a simple experiment: look at your own face in a mirror for an hour and see what comes back.
What reflected back: an eyelid scar from a childhood accident, disappearing hair, a family nose, crooked teeth, eyelash mites, a missing H in the family name, and things on his own face he had stopped seeing.
The face becomes an archive: genetics, accidents, choices, family stories, ageing, and the meanings other people place on us.
What do our faces carry? What do we choose to change? What can other people really see in them? And what do we pass on?
Part performance-essay, part memoir and part shared experiment, *Mirror Man* moves between personal stories, humour, images and optional audience interactions. The audience is invited to imagine, remember, draw, share stories and look again.
At its centre is an old Zen question: What did your face look like before your parents were born?
