Autumn Wine Trail Walk to Celebrate Surrey Hills Wines.

We will walk and then return to visit Tanhurst Estate Vineyard, nestled in a beautioful corned of the Surrey Hills, where the vines produce a range of spectacular English Red and White Still Wines that reflect the unique local soil conditions, climate of the Surrey North Downs. Only the finest grapes grown in the vineyard to make artisan wines. Skilfully crafted and blended, Tanhurst Estate wines are distinctive for their elegance and complexity.

Our guided 7.5 km Surrey Hills Vineyard Trail Walk begins at the Vineyard, we will leave and walk some of the paths through some of the most beautiful stretches of the Surrey Hills National Landscape. We’ll follow gently undulating trails past beech woodland, open farmland and up to the highest point in The Surrey Hills of Leith Hill, with panoramic views across the North Downs.

We will walk at a gentle pace through peaceful footpaths, hidden country tracks and classic English countryside scenery, along the way, your guide shares stories of the landscape, local history and the geology that gave rise of English wine production in Surrey.

Returning to the vineyard, the experience continues with a cheese platter lunch and a tour of the estate and winery, followed by a guided tasting of Tanhurst Estate wines. Guests are introduced to the winemaking process from vine to bottle before enjoying a relaxed tasting in the four hundred year barn overlooking the vines.

You will be guided on the walk by Phil Banfield, A North Downs Ambassador, a Geologist and Mountain Leader who has roamed these hills over the last 25 years and is a fount of knowledge of the geology and history of the Surrey Hills.

The walk is risk assessed and Phil is first aid qualified and insured.

Please bring appropriate clothing, a snack, water and sun protection.

The walk includes a guided walk followed by a Vineyard Tasting Tour.
