VGP's Wellness Series - Mindful Motion: A Somatic Approach to Wellness for Veterinary Professionals
VGP is thrilled to introduce new voices and unique perspectives to help you explore more ways to improve your personal health and wellness, brought to you by Zoetis. On May 15th, join us as Sharon Costianes presents Mindful Motion: A Somatic Approach to Wellness for Veterinary Professionals.
As a veterinarian, vet tech, or office manager, you’re constantly in motion — whether it’s caring for animals, managing the demands of the clinic, or supporting clients. I don’t need to tell you how much this takes a toll on your body and mind. You love what you do, but there isn’t enough Tylenol in the world to address what you are carrying, and you might be wondering if this career path is sustainable. What if there was a way you could care for your body as well as you care for your patients? What if you had a way to help you move out of pain, and into more sustainable action? And what if learning to move more efficiently also helped you drop into a regulated nervous system that also addressed the stress you hold every day?
This workshop is designed specifically for veterinary professionals like you, combining mindfulness, somatic movement, and the Feldenkrais Method™ of somatic education to improve awareness, reduce physical stress, and enhance overall well-being. You’ll leave feeling refreshed, recharged, and equipped with a method to support your body and mind in the long run.
What You’ll Learn:
- Mindful Movement: Discover the power of going fast without hurrying. Stay aware of your body as you move out of hustle and into flow. You’ll learn mindfulness techniques to help you stay grounded and focused during your demanding workday.
- Somatic Practices for Stress Relief: Regulate your nervous system and release tension from your body and mind, helping you prevent burnout and maintain energy.
- Tools for Long-Term Wellness: Incorporate exercises immediately into your day-to-day life which will enhance your physical and mental resilience. This will improve your ability to show up with more energy and presence for yourself, your team, and your clients.
- The Feldenkrais Method™ : This approach taps into the innate wisdom of your body and mind, using gentle, slow movement paired with awareness to improve posture, flexibility, and coordination, rewiring your habitual neuro-pathways in the process. You’ll explore easy-to-follow movements that help reorganize your habitual ways of moving, alleviating common discomforts caused by repetitive tasks, long hours of standing, or lifting.
Why Attend?
Veterinary professionals are often so focused on caring for others that their own health can take a backseat. Through listening to your body and engaging in mindful movement, you'll experience a sense of ease and vitality, both on and off the job. Come move, breathe, and reconnect with yourself in a supportive, judgment-free space. Whether you're a veterinarian, vet tech, or office manager, this workshop is for anyone who wants to build resilience, feel better in their body, and cultivate a mindful approach to their day to day.
Join us for this immersion in movement, mindfulness, and self-care — because when you’re at your best, your patients and your team are too!
The recording will be made available for VGP members to watch on our learning platform, EdQuest. This program is exclusively available for VGP members (VGP and VGP Elite members).
