Target Audience:

This session is aimed at all clinical staff who are already competent in undertaking venepuncture and regularly perform this procedure. This includes GPs, Nurses, HCAs and Phlebotomists. The National Patient Safety Agency recommends that venepuncture updates are attended as a minimum 3 yearly.

Course Aim:

This half day workshop aims to update the practitioner’s knowledge and skills in venepuncture.

Learning Outcomes:

The course will cover the following areas:

  • Product update
  • Pre-analytical aspects of blood collection
  • Optional practical practice workshop (see additional information)
  • Infection prevention and control update
  • Update on local and national policy including medico-legal aspects

Jacqui Doherty, IV Therapy Practitioner

Additional Information:

  • This session will be carried out via a video conferencing platform, delegates will need a computer or smart phone to join, where possible they are encouraged to use a web camera to fully participate. All joining details will be available before the session.
  • The practical workshop will be on a small, simulated veins
  • The National Patient Safety Agency advises that an update should be undertaken as a minimum of 3 yearly

Cost:

£50pp for Stockport member practices, £60pp for all other bookings
