VOC Museum Opens Temporary Gallery on Venezuela
The Victims of Communism Museum invites you to the opening event for our new temporary gallery titled "Venezuela: The Deadly Toll of Socialism."
The newest exhibit at the VOC Museum exposes the recent atrocities committed by the Chavista regime in Venezuela. Bear witness to the moving stories of families that have lost their loved ones at the hands of Nicolás Maduro's security forces. The gripping illustrations by Venezuelan artist CamdelaFu, are inspired by different cases of injustice, extrajudicial assassinations, torture, and fraud committed by the dictatorship. Experience the horrific conditions of Venezuela's most notorious prison, El Helicoide, through an immersive virtual reality exhibit and gain a deeper understanding of the grim conditions faced by Venezuelan political prisoners.
The event will feature a musical performance by Venezuelan violinist Dr. Marjory Serrano and an expert discussion on "The Venezuelan Crisis: Electoral Corruption and State Terrorism" featuring VOC Senior Fellow David Smolansky, Génesis Dávila of Defiende Venezuela, Rodrigo Diamanti of Un mundo Sin Mordaza, Víctor Navarro of Voces de la Memoria, and Dr. Evan Ellis, CSIS Senior Associate and research professor at the U.S. Army War College Strategic Studies Institute. The panelists will explore Venezuela's ongoing fight for freedom and the global responses to Maduro’s oppression.
Following the panel light refreshments will be served and the gallery will be open to the public.
