The Significance of Radha

Radha Ashtami is celebrated as Radha Rani's birthday. It is observed after 15 days of Janmashtami, which is celebrated as the birthday of God Krishna. Radha was born in Barsana and is the daughter of Vrishabhanu and Kirti.

Radha as a Metaphor:

One cannot imagine Krishna without Radha. Radha, as a metaphor, is excellent and unique. The word carries a deep meaning for the spiritual seekers and devotees. Radha is the reverse dimension of Dhara... In Sanskrit, Dhara means that which flows from origin to goal (river to sea).. whereas Radha means one that has started searching for the Origin, the Source, the Truth, the Supreme!!! We are all Radhas.. seeking the supreme parmatma!!! Krishna is our divine hero. This love and seeking for God is beautifully represented as Radha Krishna!!! Radha with Krishna creates eternal romance (Raas of existence). Radha Krishna is one and not two people. They are one soul in two bodies. Krishna being the all naughty prankster.. and Krishna's soft delicate and fine quality comes from Radha. She is his song, his dance, and all that is feminine in him.

The union of Radha and Krishna symbolizes the perfect balance of divine energies. Krishna, the playful prankster, finds his softer, more delicate qualities in Radha. Together, they create the eternal romance, the Raas of existence.
