L'Appuntamento with Donato Dozzy & Cucina Povera

On Thursday 25 June 2026 at 7PM, Villa Lontana Records and Donato Dozzy present L’Appuntamento, an ongoing series of sound-based encounters in nature, dedicated to the subtle act of attunement: to sound, to space, to one another. Taking place in the garden of Villa Lontana, the third appointment in the series features a plein air live performance by Cucina Povera, introduced by a vinyl listening session by Donato Dozzy.

Cucina Povera is the solo project of Karelian-Luxembourgish academic and composer Maria Rossi, focusing on the marginal and the observational. Looped and rehearsed motifs are an uncanny testament to the beauty of banality, infused with the mysticism of everyday life and a love for accessible sound sources. Stories are told by means of rudimentary synthesis of voice and field recording, constructing intimate sound worlds from overlooked sonic details and transforming creaky floors, boiling kettles and leaky taps into unexpected forms of storytelling. 
Named after the Italian culinary tradition of making much from very little, Cucina Povera takes simple ingredients and makes a stylistically resourceful, spontaneous hermeticism that primarily makes for a creative respite from the hubbub of the metropole. The project highlights tensions amongst architectural space, geographic place, cultural and linguistic identity and sonics through loosely organised and aesthetic sound.

Donato Dozzy (aka 'The Professor') is an iconic Rome-based DJ/producer. His brand of ambient techno is lush and hypnotic to the point of being therapeutic. His recordings, as well as his DJ sets and performances, typically consist of slowly evolving washes of sound with minimal yet detailed beats and occasional presence of natural sounds, or synthetic textures that imitate them.

Villa Lontana Records is an experimental record label based in Rome, that focuses on archival and unreleased material from the avant-garde electronic scene and contemporary sound-art. The label is run by Vittoria Bonifati and Michele Ferrari.

L’Appuntamento proposes listening as an active and collective gesture.
