Join up with your vintage friends and dance the winter blues away to live music in the gorgeous ballrooms in the sumptious Victorian grandeur of the Midland Hotel, Bradford. Catch up with people in the lovely foyer in front of the sweeping staircase. Take some amazing pictures, including in the perfectly restored and dressed railway tunnel, where people came off directly from the train. If you want there are special rates to stay in the hotel and breakfast in the beautiful dining room. A brilliant and affordable winter break. (see facebook event page for details. https://www.facebook.com/events/1155759693211258 ).
Friday starts at 7:00pm in the Princes ballroom with popular DJ Tony Stickland and the wonderful swing band Louis, Louis Louis.
MC for the weekend will again be the wonderful Stevie Cruz!!

Saturday we are using the two ballrooms, the French and the Princes ballroom.

In the gorgeous French ballroom, in the afternoon, there will be dance classes and at least one talk - details to be confirmed later. Fiona and Martin will be providing classes in lindyhop and balboa.

In the Princes ballroom,  with its beautiful chandelier and sprung dance floor, there will be dancing from 11:00am with the wonderful singer you all liked from the Bradford Live dance, Mark Memphis, singing songs from the 50's and 60's. DJs will be "Let's Boogie" who will also be providing some soul and Motown.  Dress up 50's/60's style!  Next to the stage will be an area, including rails, where you can place vintage clothes to sell. Please put size, price and your name on an attached luggage tag. This will be manned by Jeanne, who is an amazing seamstress who will be selling some of her vintage items. If you have ever had a vintage outfit you have dreamed of, Jeanne can probably make it for a reasonable price.

From 2pm, there will be music from DJ Windy with two sets from the wonderful gypsy jazz band, the Hot Club of Halifax.

There will be a break from 5pm to 7pm for meals etc. There are many places outside the hotel in the city centre or book a meal with the hotel beforehand.

The evening will start at 7:00pm and will feaature the fantastic swing band the Leeds City Stompers and DJ Windy. The dance will finish at 11:00pm. Dress will be 1920's inspired - some great places within the hotel to take photos of gangsters and flappers!

If you dont have a hotel room but wish to change outfits for the different dances, there will be a locked room available to put your suitcases in and change.

Due to the very high cost of hiring the ballrooms, I have decided, for this year at least, to not hire one for Sunday and so people who are staying at the hotel can go straight home after breakfast.

This event got brilliant feedback last year! Even the hotel staff loved the event.
Booking.com review for the hotel from 28th December 2025 "Just beautiful. Felt like you were going back in time. The size and scale brought to mind the opulence and grandeur of the past"
Single American traveller on 27th December 2025 "The Midland hotel is this amazing high gothic masterpiece. I really hope it is preserved and taken care of. I love the architecture, the location and the staff are always so nice and helpful"

Bradford was the 2025 UK City of Culture and the building work that was going on last year has now been completed and the city centre looks so much better. Well worth exploring.
The Midland Hotel was built to a very high standard when Bradford was the world's centre for wool and contains a beautiful lobby with sweeping staircase and two gorgeous ballrooms. It also has a charming vintage restaurant and a very quirky railway tunnel from the car park.
