Accessibility legislation is enforced in the UK and beyond, and data visualisation is squarely in the crosshairs.
The fact is... almost all conversation about accessibility stops at plain text and images. It's insufficient for charts, dashboards and data storytelling.
Automated accessibility tools don't work (and companies are getting fined) for standard content - and absolutely can't handle dataviz.
Plus, you probably underestimate how many folks use assistive technology. At least 1 in 6 people have access needs that render default web content inaccessible to them.
In this 30-minute interactive session we’ll cut through what the Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations, the Equality Act and the European Accessibility Act really mean for your dataviz. Then we’ll go further than ticking off WCAG, into what really works for data communication through the POUR CAF framework.
We’ll cover:
- Where the law reaches your charts, dashboards and statistical reports, whether you’re in a public body or building products for EU customers
- Why passing an automated check isn’t the same as being understood
- Live testing of real charts for colour vision, keyboard navigation and screen readers
- What works beyond the basics: alt text that carries the insight, direct labelling, data tables alongside charts, and choosing the right chart for the medium
We do not run second-screen, camera-off webinars. Come along to learn, have fun and leave knowing exactly what to check in your own work.
