Step inside one of Inverness's most iconic buildings and uncover the stories, architecture and treasures that have been at the heart of the Highland capital for generations.

On 8 July, the doors of Inverness Town House open for a rare visit to the magnificent Main Hall: a Victorian Gothic masterpiece built in 1882, lit by thirteen grand chandeliers and glowing with stained glass created for Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee.

These walls hold extraordinary stories. Two swords hang above the stage:  one carried at Culloden in 1746, one at Sheriffmuir in 1715. A 16th-century Italian Renaissance painting, portraits by Scotland's greatest masters Raeburn and Ramsay, and the room where the British Cabinet met outside London for the first and only time in 1921, shaping the Anglo-Irish Treaty.

All of this, in the heart of Inverness. All of it waiting behind these doors.
