Visit Wabash County's Exclusive 2023 Ornament by Hannah Burnworth

To create this year's ornaments, Hannah designed a Black-Capped Chickadee, a bird native to Indiana and visible all year long. She created the original Chickadee design a few years ago as part of a project that included 100 stitched paper birds native to Indiana. She combined both the bird and small geometric pieces to create a mini-collage. She stitched the paper pieces in the style used to create her own work. Her stitched paper pieces are highly textured and colorful and often have threads and fibers hanging loosely as part of her aesthetic. Each ornament is signed and numbered on the back. Although they are all similar, they are each unique.

Hannah is the artist behind Milk House Studio and founder of Milk House Gallery in North Manchester, IN. Hannah has degrees in both art education and studio art. She has been teaching art in Indiana public schools and through private workshops for the last 18 years. In addition to teaching, Hannah loves to create all things paper. Her collage and paper pieces celebrate creativity and design, bringing together a love for texture, color, nature, and experiences in motherhood.

Hannah’s most recent solo shows were housed at 3rd on 3rd Gallery in Jamestown, NY, and Artlink Gallery in Fort Wayne, IN. Her favorite group exhibitions last year included the annual Artist/Mother Podcast “Painting at Night” exhibition and the Indianapolis Arts Center “Modern Craft” exhibition. Her work has also been published through Uppercase Magazine, Candy Floss Magazine, I Like Your Work Podcast, and Visionary Arts Collective. She is excited to participate in her first museum exhibitions in the coming months at the Midwest Museum of American Art and at the Indiana State Museum

Please note after ordering an ornament online, the ornaments will be packaged and ready for pick up after noon on Wednesday, November 15th at the Visit Wabash County Welcome Center (221 S Miami Street Wabash). 

After Wednesday ornaments can be picked up Monday through Friday 9 AM to 5 PM.
