VoxBody is pleased to host another Rope Bottoms Corner. Bottoms, riggers, switches and self-tiers, join us for these quarterly rope bottoming-focused events! 

Each event will begin with a speaker-led topic by one of our amazing local rope bottoms. Topics will vary with each event and will be announced ahead of time. The second half of the event will be facilitated open discussion. 

Anyone interested is welcome to attend, no experience necessary. Please keep in mind this is bottoms-centered content, and discussions will aim to explore rope from the perspective of the rope bottom.

Bondage Bottoming as an Aerial Art

Circus/Performance bondage is characteristically very dynamic, requiring the person being tied to take a strongly active role (akin to the follow in a dance). This session will explore how traditional active bottoming (micro-adjustments, controlled breathing) extrapolates to independent dynamic movement. We will discuss how circus/performance bondage changes the dynamics between the tier and flier, and we will consider what can be learned from aerial circus arts in particular.

The second half of the event will be a facilitated open discussion; this is your chance to share your burning bottoming questions for group discussion!

Doors open at 11:15am. Please aim to arrive and be settled in for an 11:30 start time. We would love to leave as much time as possible for open discussion and therefore want to start on time!

Come for the bottoms corner, stay for the jam! Rope Jam will run 2-5pm, and tickets can be found here. 

A few notes about this event:

• tickets are per individual. It is not necessary to attend with a partner; however, we do encourage riggers to attend classes and events on rope bottoming.
• no rope or gear necessary for class. 
• tea and water will be provided. There are cushions and pillows for sitting on the floors, and chairs available. If you don't see what you need to sit comfortably for this event, please ask a VoxBody liaison!

About the presenter: 

Angel (he/him or they/them) is a self-suspender and frequent rope-bottom for Shay. Angel brings an extensive background in sailing, physics, and an amateur experience with aerial arts to his bondage practices. He finds immense joy in the process and problem-solving of choreography and rehearsal, exhibiting a fervent enthusiasm for revisiting specific bottoming sequences repeatedly and practicing to a level that most folks would find somewhat unhinged. He is a durable human who loves to experiment, push boundaries, and redefine the possibilities of what rope bondage can be.

While you can't find Angel on social media, if you are local, you have most certainly caught him doing beautiful dynamic ties with Shay at a Twisted Windows event or otherwise!
