Waders, often shore birds that forage on coastlines worldwide and noted for their long legs and slender bills, need concerted support.
Our inaugural Wader Quest webinar will focus on the aims and achievements of the charity over its 14 year history, talk about what comes next for waders in the UK and globally, and share insights into what’s needed to bring about the environmental conditions needed for waders to thrive.
Taking place on 23 April at 19.30, viewers will hear from Rick Simpson, Co-founder of Wader Quest who has become a noted global expert in wader conservation through his international travel and research, in a fireside chat hosted by Wader Quest Trustee Elizabeth Anderson, who leads a social justice charity focusing on advocacy and measurable change. Rick will reflect on the goals that led him and his wife, co-founding Trustee Elis Simpson, to establish the charity, as well as the steps needed to protect and support waders in the context of habitat loss, pollution and climate change. He will also explore the role that society must play in taking a lead in conservation, including the part that individuals can play to support these unique birds.
The webinar comes at a time of growth for Wader Quest, as the charity looks to its 15th anniversary and launches new ways for people, organisations and businesses to support its work, which includes working with community organisations and researchers around the world in community led conservation and knowledge building projects.
The event is free to attend. Attendees will be provided with the webinar link one day before the event.
