Paediatric First Aid - blended 12 hour
This course is delivered by 'First Aid for Life' - first aid experts and a leading independent provider of exemplary and fully regulated first aid courses; offering outstanding training.
One day – 6 hour practical course, with 6 hours of online pre-learning (to be undertaken prior to the practical course) for the Full Blended 12 hour Paediatric First Aid qualification. Continuous assessment by trainer, practical assessments to cover wound management, care of an unconscious casualty, choking and CPR
Paediatric First Aid qualification valid for 3 years.
Suitable for school and nursery Staff and anyone requiring a Full Paediatric qualification to be Ofsted registered on the compulsory register and comply with EYFS.
Content covered:
- Managing an incident
- Priorities of First Aid
- Treatment of an unconscious adult, baby and child who is breathing – recovery position
- Treatment of an unconscious adult, baby or child who is not breathing – CPR
- Importance of a defibrillator and how to use an AED
- Choking
- Shock
- Bleeding – grazes, splinters, embedded objects, amputated parts, knocked out teeth, mouth injury, eye injury, bruising, nose bleeds, objects in eyes, ears, nose…
- Burns and scalds
- Head injuries, concussion, compression & skull fracture
- Spinal injuries
- Breaks, soft tissue injuries & dislocations
- Anaphylactic shock and acute allergic reaction
- Asthma
- Fitting and seizures
- First Aid Kits
- The aftermath, accident forms
- We will cover the full Ofsted and EYFS syllabus
There is the option of taking an additional short multiple choice test on the day in order to achieve the EFAW qualification (Emergency First Aid at Work) in addition to the paediatric qualification. Please email cpd@wandlelearningpartnership.org.uk in advance if you are interested in this.
We will not be able to accommodate this request on the day if we have not been notified before the course start date. This additional qualification costs £10.
