❓FAQs
- Can I join if I'm not based in Washington? This is meant to help grow the B Corp community in Washington, but we're happy to help others outside of our state get certified, so feel free to join even if you aren't based in Washington.
- What day/time will all the meetings be? We'll pick a time that works for most in the cohort, will record calls in case you can't make one or two, and provide access to mentors or experts outside of calls as needed.
- Do you have a payment plan option? If you need to pay in installments, please email bcorpwa@gmail.com.
- What other costs do I need to think about? You will also need to pay your submission and certification fees to B Lab, the nonprofit behind the B Corp Certification, and those costs vary by business size, and they do offer equity pricing. Read more here. https://usca.bcorporation.net/fees/
- How much time do I need to commit to this process? The time commitment varies by the size of the organization and how readily available your data is, but at a minimum, I would plan to spend at least a few hours a week between group meetings and your homework.
- What if I decide not to submit for certification right now? This process will still help you identify areas needing improvement in your business and provide guidance on best practices for resolving those issues. Plus, you'll likely make new business friends you can lean on for support over the years.
- Who in my company should represent us in this cohort? For small businesses, it's often the founder/CEO who will lead this process, but larger businesses might assign this work to a "B Keeper" within their organization who has access to all the company's impact data and authority to suggest/change company policies.
- What if I'm not sure if my business will get enough points to qualify? You'll have to be willing to improve your practices in meaningful ways, but you're likely already doing more than you're giving yourself credit, and the experts can help you identify those things so you get credit for them.
- Can companies that are recertifying join the cohort? This program is meant to support companies certifying for the first time, but if you want to recertify through a supportive group, we'll gladly let you join the cohort. Just note that the program won't be designed specifically for your situation.
