A Special Community Event: 1776 - The News of Independence Reaches German Valley!

This unique event, taking place on Saturday, September 19, will offer patricipants an entertaining late afternoon of history, music, and connection at the historic Stone Church grounds. There will be several "special guests" who will appear from the past, setting the scene for this milestone in history and providing input on this recently declared independence from Philadelphia!

Special period music will begin the evening and each guest may enjoy complimentary light appetizers, wine, beer and beverages. This event will provide an opportunity to consider how settlers might have reacted to the Declaration of Independence. Participants will join others at round tables inside the Old Stone Church, each with a facilator who will lead an interesting and fun discussion on whether the table should vote and support the cause, or not. Guests will have an interesting experience to think as farmers, soldiers, blacksmiths, and merchants during this historic time in our town.

Free parking is available at Zion Lutheran Church, 11 Schooley's Mountain Road, Long Valley, just a short walk from the WTHS museum at 6 Fairview Avenue.
