The Capricorn Dream Sound Machine 2024 Dance Parties
Need help?
We’re very excited to announce that our Music Co-Directors, Tim ‘Love’ Lee and Scott Anderson, are throwing a series of late-night, dress-up, all-vinyl, hi-fi dance parties this summer as The Capricorn Dream Sound Machine. They'll take you on a world tour of some of the most famous, but entirely fictional, hot spots from the last 100 years. For each event we'll also be collaborating with our artists to help bring the dream alive!
First up is Neon Nassau (1987, Nassau, Bahamas) on June 15: in 1987 the hottest underground party in the otherwise tourist-swamped Bahamas was “Neon Nassau” at the quay side Sailors Social Club. Retired boat captains, off duty lifeguards, and suburban teens hiding away from their parents worked up a sweat to calypso, dancehall reggae, disco soca, freestyle, yacht rock, and electro boogie.
Then ¡Viva Democracía! (1977, Cádiz, Spain) on July 20: as Spain wakes up from its fascist nightmare and prepares for its first democratic elections in over 40 years, the bright and beautiful in Cádiz danced to a heady mix of euro disco, new wave, punk funk, afro pop, and Middle Eastern grooves.
Then Hi-Fashion Lo-Life (1997, Shoreditch, East London, UK) on September 7: East London at the end of the last century was a fin de siècle riot of high fashion, house music, big beats, and low life hustlers. Where art, design, and music conspired to make the ordinary struggles of living in a disused warehouse extraordinary. BYOB.
And finally, on October 26th, the tried-and-true, 1000%-going-to-sell-out-before-the-event-so-get-your-tickets-early Monster’s Ball (costumes required, as always; no tickets at the door, as always).
