Introduction to sketchbooking and observational drawing
Sketchbooking can act as a visual diary; helping develop a sense of self and place, as you observe and connect with the world around you through drawing and other creative methods.
In this workshop, you will be guided through a set of activities to explore your own artistic style, using the therapy gardens as inspiration and relaxation. The hope is that you may discover how you can continue to use sketchbooking as part of your own creative wellness, with this in mind you will be given a sketchbook to take home. Emily is open to offering personalised advice on how to best fit this into your life.
Throughout the workshop we will be using foraged art materials handmade by Old Mill Arts.
This workshop is open to everyone, no matter where you are in your creative journey. Open to beginners who are looking for new ways to find creative wellbeing, or for seasoned artists who would enjoy time in the garden experimenting with a new material or artform.
You are very welcome to bring your own sketchbooks or drawings to share with the group.

About Lothlorien
Lothlorien is a therapeutic residential community owned by the Rokpa Trust. We are set amongst 17 acres of tranquil woodlands, gardens, and meadows near Corsock village in rural Dumfries and Galloway. Two residential buildings nestle within our site, including an original log cabin built in 1974 from locally hewn larch and pine. Among the rustic outbuildings, you'll find a workshop, gym, TV room, music room, and a meditation room overlooking a serene pond. The bountiful vegetable gardens feature polytunnels, glasshouses, raised beds, a large composting area, and an old orchard, all providing our community with nearly year-round sustenance. Meandering paths, lined with hedges and willow, wind through the landscape, offering a peaceful retreat in harmony with nature.
