Monologues and Strangers
What happens when two strangers meet and what’s left unsaid starts to surface?
This 8-week online improv course explores the space between connection and distance, combining grounded two-person scenes with solo monologues. Designed for improvisers who want to deepen emotional truth and character work, the course focuses on how inner thoughts and personal perspective can shape and transform relationships on stage.
You’ll move between scenes where characters are meeting for the first time and monologues that reveal what’s really going on beneath the surface. By linking these forms, you’ll learn how to create richer, more layered performances that feel both spontaneous and meaningful.
Over eight weeks, you’ll:
- Build compelling “stranger” scenes with clear stakes and authentic connection
- Use monologues to explore inner voice, memory and point of view
- Transition between scene work and solo work with confidence
- Develop characters with depth, specificity and emotional clarity
- Let subtext, silence, and perspective drive your scenework
By the end of the course, you’ll have stronger instincts for creating engaging first encounters, delivering grounded monologues and weaving the two together into thoughtful, dynamic improv.
