Rolling Bay Hall, 98110
Description
Vocalist and saxophonist Elena Maque was born in St. Petersburg, Russia.
"I know that music and art overall has brought joy and hope in the moments of worst despair throughout centuries." Born in St. Petersburg to a Russian dad and Ukrainian mom, "my heart is bleeding with all the victims of this unfolding madness, " says Elena Maque.
A university-trained musician, Maque has spent years honing her craft and wowing audiences throughout Russia, Europe, and the United States. Her ability to cross-pollinate jazz with funk and pop has been a magnet for fans globally. As a result, it is not unusual to find a guest DJ scratching beats as Maque spices an up-tempo swing tune with sophistication while honoring the jazz vernacular in her execution.
In 2019, Maque began collaborating and recording her debut album Feel Again with Los Angeles-based legendary keyboardist and producer Scott Kinsey. The album is filled with six well-crafted originals and three innovative interpretations of well-known classics from the jazz, Brazilian and pop idioms. The album was released in November 2021.
JOSH RAWLINGS (keys) is one of most sought after performing and studio musicians in the Pacific Northwest today. Rolling Stone described his piano playing on Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ Billboard Top-20 Single “Downtown” as a “bombastic, theatrical piano breakdown.”
Jazz trumpeter, composer and producer, THOMAS MARRIOTT, has earned eight Golden Ear awards, produced 13 albums as a leader for Origin Records. He is a veteran of the national jazz scene and has and toured with greats like Maynard Ferguson and Roy McCurdy, as well as contemporary jazz artists like Orrin Evans and Joe Locke.
Recently at Rolling Bay Hall, MAX HOLMERG, was the drummer with Alex Dugdale's FADE Quintet doing call and response to Dugdale's tap dance patterns. Max hosts the Sunday night jam session at the Angry Beaver in Greenrwood, co-runs the podcast Jazztalk Seattle, and runs the Secret jazz Club on Airbnb.
We last met OSAMA AFIFI when he performed with Jacqueline Tabor. He is an Upright and Electric Bassist who has been part of the West Coast music scene since 1981. In his early years he performed with R&B Legends the Cadillacs and the 5th Dimension. 5th Dimension.
