ELNAH JORDAN, vocals
"Ohio born and raised, Elnah Jordan was introduced to singing as a child in church choir. The interconnectivity between that experience and the blues is what led her to a life dedicated to jazz, performing on the streets of San Francisco, in clubs, and Broadway theatre, all the while true to her roots at the crossroads of American ethnomusicology. She can belt out Bessie Smith as she did in Jon Hendrick’s The Evolution of the Blues, or summon the spirit of Nina Simone. In a club setting, Jordan maintains a close connection with her audience, interpreting the vibe and energy of the room." - Paul Rausch
LAVON HARDISON, vocals
LaVon’s first love is jazz. But it wasn’t the sound she first knew.
Growing up in a Baptist congregation in Boston, LaVon was saturated with
gospel music. As a young adult, she trained in opera and musical
theater and went on to perform with the Boston Lyric Opera and many
other dramatic and musical theaters across the country.
Today, LaVon sings the songs that tell stories, from the worlds of
soul, R&B, classical, sacred, and pop – and gives them new life and
energy from a jazz perspective. And she is more frequently mixing in her
own evocative original compositions.
LaVon was a featured performer at the 2009 Festival of World Sacred Music in New Delhi, India. In 2016, she won the Seattle-Kobe Sister City Jazz Vocalist Audition at Dimitriou’s Jazz Alley, which took her on three-city performance tour of Japan. And she was the Earshot Jazz 2017 Vocalist of the Year.
JACQUELINE TABOR, vocals
Jacqueline “Seattle Chanteuse” Tabor is a three-time Earshot Jazz Vocalist of the Year Award winner and Seattle-Kobe Sister City Association Female Jazz Vocalist Award winner. Tabor’s unique bluesy style and charming energy have made her one of the most beloved jazz vocalists and storytellers in the Pacific Northwest. Tabor is often backed by an ensemble of Seattle’s most talented jazz musicians when she performs, and she always manages to put on a spectacular and unforgettable show.
In February 2020, Tabor performed a powerful tribute concert to Billie Holiday with the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra (SRJO) and continues to collaborate with this outstanding organization. As a part of the 2022 Earshot Jazz Festival, Tabor, through her “Don’t Explain” project, joined pianist Marina Albero to deliver a powerful, dynamic performance paying tribute to musical icons Billie Holiday and Nina Simone.
